Last Minute Preparation Tips for Board Aspirants

Not everyone follows the same study pattern; some can study straight for 12-15 hours while others cannot focus over a specific time zone. Irrespective of how hard-working, studious or focused we are, sometimes we all need last minute preparations. Board examinations for CBSE & ICSE board are just few days away and students are already stressing over the last-minute board exam preparation. So, here are some last minute study tips to help you get through this crucial phase:

Preparing Study Schedule

Though many of the students thrive on last-minute study but it’s true that last minute study is everyone’s cup of tea and not the best way to prepare for an exam. Set up a timetable and manage your time efficiently. Note down the number of days for which exam you have to appear for and organize your time table accordingly. Some exams may need more time to prepare for, so make a balance between them.

Seek Comfortable Study Space

Some students need a clean space to study while others study in a cluttered space. Thus, it is important to seek your comfort. Enough light, a comfortable chair, no distractions like mobile, games etc.

For focused study environment, you need to get rid of all the distractions. Find out what distracts you. Some people are able to focus in complete silence while others need help of background music. Juts decide what works for you the best.

Make Patterns

Visual aids are the best for revising the syllabus. When you start a topic, write down whatever you know about the topic and then highlight where you lag behind. Cover the gaps by revising the leftover points. As the exam approaches, collate your notes and try to remember the things diagrammatically.

Listing and writing your ideas in a brief format can help you go through and recall everything quickly just before the exam.

Practice Previous Year Question Papers

Practicing previous year question papers is one of the best ways to prepare for the exam. It helps you to get familiar with the pattern of the question paper and time management. This practice also ensures that you spend the apt amount of time on each section.

Take Advantage of Your Family & Friends

Parents and siblings can be annoying during exam time but you can take advantage by explaining an answer to them. Explaining an answer will help you get it clear in your mind and highlight the areas where you need more practice.

Study in Groups

Study session with friends is a very good strategy but choose your friends wisely. There may be some questions that can be answered by your friends. While you go for group study, make sure you are focused for designated amount of time. Only this way, it can turn out to be the most effective.

Take Regular Breaks

It has been proven that regular breaks while studying helps in long-term retention of knowledge. Some students think that studying for endless hours will help them learn the syllabus quickly but it is actually counterproductive.

A common study routine cannot work for everyone. Everyone is different so you have to develop your own study routine. If you are a morning person, study early and if you are a night person, try to settle till evening. Amidst your studies, don’t forget to enjoy sunshine as Vitamin D is very important for health.
